Coaches,

It has come to our attention on that our first night of play a team violated the ICL rule of one player playing on more than one Coed team. When the coach was reminded of the rule their response was “I thought we were here to have fun!” “I didn’t know we were that strict on rules”. This attitude and this response is of course an unacceptable one. Having fun does not mean disregarding or ignoring our established rules. Our rules are in place to govern our sport as well as keep play consistent and fair. If rules were made to be ignored why should we have a limit of three outs per inning? We could have more “fun” if we changed it to six, right?! But we know the sport of softball has three outs per inning and that this is a rule.

Please do not pick & choose the rules you want to follow. As coaches it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the ICL’s rules of play and abide by all of them. If you are uncertain of a rule feel free to contact an ICL Board member for clarification.
